Quick Look: MOONDROP U.C.T.S. Wuthering Waves Earclips

In this article, we will mainly compare it with the similarly co‑branded PILL Bocchi the Rock! Edition. Compared to the Bocchi the Rock! collaboration, the Wuthering Waves co‑branded earclips essentially share only a superficial resemblance in form with the familiar PILL. In terms of appearance, hardware configuration, drivers, and every other aspect, this is an entirely separate product with its own independent development.

I won’t dwell on the packaging—the pin badges, collaboration lanyards, laser tickets, and so on are already familiar to everyone from various unboxings. Let’s cut straight to the design. Compared to the PILL, the U.C.T.S. charging case can finally sit steadily on a desktop—it can stand upright on one end perfectly, and the design feels more premium. The earbuds themselves are largely similar, with no noticeable difference in fit subjectively, and similarly, there is no auto left/right detection. The responsiveness of the controls remains good.

On the software side, the U.C.T.S. also includes two different voice lines from the Rover.

In terms of drivers, the U.C.T.S. has been upgraded from the PILL’s single dynamic driver to a hybrid architecture of one dynamic and one planar driver—placing it among the top tier of earclip earphones in terms of driver performance. A 13mm wooden‑diaphragm dynamic driver is paired with a ring‑type micro‑planar driver, coaxially arranged to ensure coherence across the crossover as much as possible. In the U.C.T.S., MOONDROP has also incorporated a new custom SoC, which enables support for LHDC‑V and LC3 codecs. With the same transmitter, same gain settings, and same volume level, the U.C.T.S. delivers noticeably higher actual sound pressure than the PILL—partially addressing the biggest issue of the PILL as an entry‑level earclip. Still, we hope the sound pressure could be pushed even higher.

In terms of sound signature, compared to the PILL’s default tuning, the U.C.T.S. delivers a noticeably more solid and full‑bodied bass texture, with deeper sub‑bass extension. Although the quantity is still not particularly abundant, the improved texture ensures better layering even at lower listening volumes. The upper midrange of vocals is more tightly controlled, and the treble is less diffuse. Overall, the U.C.T.S. clearly outperforms the PILL in technical performance — and this remains true even when comparing both under AAC codec conditions.

We believe that the U.C.T.S., when viewed as a standalone product, is actually quite well done. It shows clear improvement over the PILL, with support for high-bitrate codecs and LC3, along with better sound quality and more solid extension at both ends. Considering the co-branded nature, factoring in the moulding costs and other development expenses, the 100 RMB price difference is justified. The only catch is that I already have a pile of third‑party 3D‑printed accessories prepared for the PILL. Ultimately, the value of the U.C.T.S. is something that Wuthering Waves players will have to discover for themselves—whether as a collectible or as a headphone, it works just fine.
